Our clients envisaged Villa Montanara as an International Centre for Scandinavian Creativity where designers, architects, chefs, and artists can exchange ideas right in the heart of continental Europe.
Brunate is a small village perched above Lake Como, 50 km north-east of Milan. At the beginning of the 20th century it was developed as a fashionable holiday destination for the Milanese bourgeoisie. The area is now characterized by a large number of art deco villas and gardens built on steep slopes which take advantage of the fine view of the Alps. The dense alpine forest that surrounds the villa and its varied topography form a landscape that fascinated our clients because of its similarity with their home country.
Ten small wooden cabins are scattered across the property; each designed as a basic unit with a sleeping area and a small shower. Each cabin serves as an independent observatory where visitors can be completely immersed in the natural setting.
